Frieda Pinto to star in Israeli film, Miral

Now the Israelis want a flavour of Frieda Pinto in their films. After becoming Woody Allen latest muse, Pinto is going to join the cast of Israeli filmmaker Julian Schnabel's Miral. Schnabel who directed the Oscar-nominated The Diving Bell and the Butterfly has also worked with Lou Reed on his Berlin concerts.

Miral is based on the novel by Palestinian-Italian writer Rula Jebreal that documents the real-life story of Hind Husseini. Husseini established the Dar Al-Tifi orphanage in Jerusalem following the partition of Palestine and creation of the state of Israel in 1948 and the screenplay for the film is written by Schnabel himself, reports Variety magazine.

The 24-year-old shot to super international fame after the success of Danny Boyle's multiple Oscar-winning drama Slumdog Millionaire. Pinto's new movie will be filmed in Israel, while the Palestinian territories will begin filming April 19. It was earlier reported that Pinto was selected for Allen's untitled project opposite Sir Anthony Hopkins and Josh Brolin.
