Justin Timberlake, Kenna, Lupe Fiasco to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro

Justin Timberlake and rappers Kenna and Lupe Fiasco are getting into shape to climb Africa's Mt. Kilimanjaro, all to bring attention to the worldwide water crisis

Justin Timberlake, rappers Lupe Fiasco and Kenna are going to the climbing Mt Kilamajaro, in Tanzania, Africa. In an effort to raise awreness for the worldwide water crisis, the trio are getting themselves fit enough to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, this fall.

The mission will bring the three artists to the highest point in Africa, which boasts breathtaking views and three inactive volcanic cones. Though the climb is popular among tourists, the altitude and low temperature make this a difficult and dangerous trek and those who climb suffer from shortness of breath, headaches and discomfort due to the limited amount of breathable oxygen.

Kenna, let on in an interview with Elle, the cause was specially close to him. "My dad almost died as a child from waterborne diseases in Ethiopia, and he had talked to me about digging a well there, and I thought, 'I have too many friends who would be concerned with the subject of clean water. Maybe I can help out."

Lupe Fisco jokes on Mtv. com saying that the other motivating factor was to beat Kenna to the top by sabotaging his climb. "Anything will do. "Sabotaging his tent, taking the lining out of his coat, lacing it with ants," says Fisco.

As with any testosterone pumping physical activity, healthy amounts of male competition. While Timberlake has been training pretty hard to be on the ball with the fitness levels required by the climb, Kenna has refused to work out with him. "I refuse to work out with him, because he's way fitter than I am," Kenna told Elle. "I'm training in secret." Timberlake has been working on getting his VO2 [oxygen consumption] levels up to expand his lungs, and strong enough to be able to climb for a week straight and carry 30 pounds on his back.
