'Michael Unleashed' Continued...
Continuing with Michael's eventful life with special mention to the accolades he earned during his 'Thriller Era' & the various highs which Michael attained are covered in this continued edition of ' Michael Unleashed' ...Shamit Atray
'Jackson 5' recognition was one of the biggest & Michael's first achievement in the music arena but Michael was upto something big. He tried out of his skin to prove himself by making the world realise what he actually possessed & eventually his efforts paid off as he went Solo in the year 1982 with one of the world's largest selling album of all time named 'THRILLER' which broke numerous records and a 'Whooping' 50,000 copies were sold worldwide. Michael coupled it up with fantastic dancing & choreography to produce a 14 minute video.In 1984, he won record breaking 8 Grammy awards in one night for his scintillating work on 'Thriller'. 'The Girl Is Mine', a duet with Paul McCartney became a friendly collaboration, however, there would be future animosities between the pair regarding rights for the old Beatles tunes, many soon to be owned by Michael.The song reached number 1 in the U.S.A. and the U.K., however, when the track 'Billie Jean' was released, it opened the floodgates of possibilities for the artist. The song became an ernormous international hit.The accompanying video was a spectacular affair.
The follow-up, 'Beat It', with its guitar solo by Eddie Van Halen, was one of the first black records to receive regular airplay on the MTV video station. Michael trained himself by watching some of the best soul dancers like James Brown very intently & learned his signature dance move --" The Moon Walk" by scrutinising the children who performed on the streets. Michael was then a 'Global star' and performed throughout the world carrying on a series of concerts and his wardrobe added on to the style statement which featured glittery suits and pseudo-military uniforms matched with the single white glove. In 1987 Michael released his much awaited third solo album, titled 'Bad', and lauched his record breaking first solo world tour. 1988, Michael wrote his first autobiography, Moonwalk, talking for the first time on his childhood and his career. At the end of the 1980s Michael was named 'Artist Of The Decade' for his success off of his 'Thriller' and 'Bad' albums. Michael mesemerised millions world wide during 1980's & became a 'Global Star' with numerous glittery titles under his belt. He was the real 'Showstopper' & the eternity he created was remarkable.
